ANYTHING NOTABLE IN THE AWARDS?
- Between the two proponents, NextEra was not awarded any projects in this round; RES Canada was awarded two projects: a 50 MW project in Chatham-Kent and a 32 MW project in Municipality of The Nation and Township of Champlain (just east of Ottawa)
- 75% of the projects had Municipal Council support
- Two projects were awarded for the Municipality of Dutton-Dunwich (Invenergy LLC - 57.5 MW) and the Municipality of The Nation (RES - 32 MW) despite local Councils voting NOT to support IWT development
DOES THIS MEAN THAT NF AND AH IS SAFE FROM INDUSTRIAL WIND TURBINES?
NO. WE WON THIS BATTLE, BUT THIS IS A THREE-YEAR WAR. ONE DOWN; TWO TO GO. THE 2016 RFP PROCESS STARTS AGAIN THIS MONTH. THE TWO PROPONENTS WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY RECYCLE THEIR 2015 PROPOSALS FOR THE NEXT TWO ROUNDS.
